Special Handling
Pregnant Passengers Please note, that certain air travel restrictions apply for women in the later stages of pregnancy.
- Up to 35 weeks of pregnancy, women may travel without restriction.
- Women between their 36th and 39th week of pregnancy are only accepted for travel with a doctor's note dated less than 24 hours prior to the date of travel.
- After 39 weeks of pregnancy you will not be accepted for travel.
Infants
(7 days - 2 years)
Newborns are accepted once they have reached 7 days
of age. Please note, parents must be in possession of
all legal documents required by destination country.
There are special rows on each aircraft that are equipped
for lap-held infants and children.
Infants who
turn 2 years of age after commencing their travel but
before completing their return travel, require a seat
and therefore a purchased ticket.
Meal services are not provided for lap-held babies.
Children
(2 years - 5 years inclusive)
A child under the age of 2 years is considered an infant and may travel in an adult's lap. Please note, that an adult may not be responsible for more than one infant at a time. Any child 2 years and older requires a seat and therefore a purchased ticket. Families with young children board the airplane in priority during pre-boarding.
Skycots are not available on our A319's or A320's but
are available on our A330's and can be used for infants
up to 20 lbs and are assigned on a first come first
served basis.
Transport Canada Safety regulations do not permit children or infants to be seated at emergency exit rows.
Unaccompanied
Minors (5 years - 12 years inclusive)
- Skyservice accepts children between the ages of 5 and 12 years for travel as unaccompanied minors.
- Skyservice will not accept unaccompanied minors on connecting flights with either Skyservice or other carriers.
- Parents/ guardians must complete the necessary forms
and paperwork on arrival at the airport of departure.
Information must be completed as follows: personal
information about the child and the parent/ guardian,
the flight itinerary, the name, address and telephone
number of the person who will be meeting the child,
and a signature of authorization from the parent or
guardian. Parents must provide proper identification
for the child and approved travel letters.
- The child will receive a ticket holder bearing the letters "UM". This ticket holder will quickly identify the child as an "UM" and protects the child's ticket information.
- Tags will also be attached to the child's baggage, with the "UM" designation.
- Unaccompanied Minors will be invited to board the aircraft first during pre-boarding. A Skyservice representative will accompany the child to the door of the aircraft and from there a crew member will assist the child to their seat.
- Parent/guardians must remain at the airport until the flight has departed.
- Children will only be surrendered to the individuals listed on the documentation on arrival at their destination.
- Children between the ages of 5 and 12 accompanied by persons under 18 years of age will be considered an Unaccompanied Minor.
Youth
Passengers (13 years - 17 years inclusive)
Passengers between the ages of 13 and 17 years may travel
alone. These passengers are responsible for proper travel
identification to gain entry onto the aircraft. Skyservice
will provide pre-boarding privileges to these passengers
and will make every effort to assist them during their
journey.
Tips to make your child's trip pleasant
- Prior to the trip, explain fully to your child everything
that will happen during the flight.
- Equip your child with a carry-on bag containing a snack and a few of their favourite toys.
- Ensure that the person meeting your child at the destination is fully aware of all the flight details as well as the regulations for picking up an unaccompanied minor (possessing all the proper identification and signing for the child).
